7:25 am: Very foggy early and yet smaller surf.   Going to quote the size based on the buoy reading as it’s so foggy at the beach I cannot see the surf.   It’s likely glassy with waves @ 1/2 a foot to 1 foot.   The wind is near calm, measured at zero on the wind meter.  .  The marine forecast is calling for the wind to be S later today.   Our local buoy offshore our current wave heigh reading is 1.3 feet at 11 seconds, down from yesterdays 1.6 feet at 11 seconds .   You can see the ocean live by viewing The Surf Station Cam Page here ,

7:45 am:    Early morning photos are up box #1 and you can see it’s so super foggy!   Too foggy to see how big the waves are, but based on the buoy readings offshore the waves are only around knee high or so, on some sets.   The wind is near calm so the fog is not lifting.  Maybe the rising sun will burn the fog off at some point?  We will find out as the day goes on….

9:00 am:  Still very foggy at the beach.   Evenso, we have some good news to report.   Checking further out into our current small scale swell , checking the East Canaveral Buoy and there is a minor uptick of late.   So we may get yet another push with incoming tide today!  The morning local reading looked like the swell was trending smaller and possibly over, but that is likely not true ., in fact we may get a better push than yesterday, possibly.    Still too ealry to tell and the push may come tonight after dark, or… who knows when? Again, we will keeping monitoring Ma Ocean for ya and the hope is for some fun surf today, and tomorrow….

6:05 pm: We bring you your Friday evening happy hour surf report from beautiful Vilano Beach with new photos in box #3.   You can see we have some fairly clean little lines with very few surfers out.     Small overall, but there are some knee to thigh high semi-glassy waves that are fairly lined up.   Outgoing tide can be good here!   And looks like there will be wave for the weekend!  We will be back early-early in the morning with a fresh update then.    Over and out..

Here is a good link to track near-shore wave height/period/direction just off the NE Florida coast: the Fernandina Beach buoy. Located upstream (to the north) and closer to the coast than the St. Augustine buoy, it’s a good indicator of fluctuations in NE Florida surf conditions influenced by winter cold fronts.
