Surf Reports comments:

7:05 am: The waves are looking pretty small as this Monday morning. Smaller than yesterday. Wave size .5 a foot to 1 foot. The surface conditions are glassy. The wind is currently calm at daybreak, expevted to increase NE later today according to the marine forecast . Our local buoy offshore is currently reading 1.3 feet at 10 seconds, down from yesterdays 2.0 feet @ 11 seconds. You can see the ocean live by viewing The Surf Station Cam Page here ,

7:45 am: Early morning photos are up box #1 and you can see waves are very very small to start out the work week. Waves shin to possbly knee high on a few of the set waves, and super glassy early with a dead calm wind early….

9 am: Dean just totally revised this week’s forecast based on new model data… After bottoming out today, it now looks like surf will build all week check out the Surf Station Surf Forecast.

11:30 am; New mid to late morning photos are up box #2 and the wind has turned onshore and with that, a little more of the swell is showing. Some long lines with some set waves in the upper knee to lower thigh range They are peeling / crumbling over with no one out that I can see. A cool breeze off the ocean, under sunny skies

Here is a good link to track near-shore wave height/period/direction just off the NE Florida coast: the Fernandina Beach buoy. Located upstream (to the north) and closer to the coast than the St. Augustine buoy, it’s a good indicator of fluctuations in NE Florida surf size and water temperatures influenced by winter cold fronts. Here is an overview of a large-scale, real-time wind map to track the shifting winds associated with the fronts and lows that produce our waves.
