Surf Report comments:

7:00 am:  The buoy ticked upward a tad overnight.   Not seeing it yet along the beach.    Small scale waves breaking on the inside at first look.      Wave height this morning is 1 to occasionally up to 2 feet is the early morning call.     We have sideoffshore winds early.   The marine forecast calling for S then SE winds today.  Checking out local buoy the early wave height measurement is 2.6 feet at 10 seconds, up from yesterday mornings 2.0 feet at 9 seconds.
The the water temperature is measured at 71 degrees at The Pier this morning.   And you can see the ocean live by viewing The Surf Station Cam Page here.

.

7:35 am:  Early morning photos are up in box #1 and you can see we have some waves breaking on the inside on this Thursday morning.    Small overall but there are some knee to thigh high waves, maybe a little bigger on some set waves.    It’s semi-glassy early this morning with the light wind early.   Some of those thicker 2.6 feet at 10 seconds wave seen on the buoy offshroe are working their way to the beach...

.

12:15 pm:    New mid to late morning photos are up in box #2 and you can see some glassy waves around the pier.    Small overall with some knee to thigh high glassy waves from the east.  THE DREDGE is back up and pumping sand, and the mound is moving eastward, as you can see in the photos.  Will it make us a nice sand point break one way or the other?  Only times will tell…

Left up from last night.

6:50 pm:    New evening photos are up and posted in box #3 and you can see it’s choppy overall    The euurf is ont he small side with some knee to thigh high waves .   There is possibly a waist high peak.  It’s junky and sloppy with onshore winds.    Some of the surfers in the photos were ripping and having fun!

And let’s hope this swell holds for the weekend .   We will be back in the morning to report what we see.. over and out..

Here is the overview wind map. Here is the weekly weather forecast for St Augustine Beach, and the 5-day NWS Marine Forecast for Northeast Florida coastal waters.  As we endure a week-long small/flat spell, here is a note of hope from Dean’s Surf Forecast.  Following last weekend’s very small but awesomely/seasonally cool/sunny spring weather, a warming trend to summer-like temps set in this week, accompanied by a modest increase in size through mid-week which, lingering Thursday then subsiding some leading into the weekend. Looking ahead, there is the possibility of a more significant increase in long period ground swell arriving toward month’s end. Watch for the forecast to be extended as new data comes in…
