7:00 am:  Cloudy & cool starts out this Friday morning with waves at 1/2 a foot to 1 foot early. The wind is NNW at 11-17 mph. The marine forecast is calling for increasing  N winds today. Our local buoy is currently reading 3.6 feet at 4 seconds changed from yesterdays 2.3 feet at 8 seconds.  Our local buoy came in with a water temp of 68 early. Dean’s updated Surf Station Forecast calls for a modest uptick leading into the weekend behind the latest cold front passage. The first half of next week will see a nice warming trend ahead of another front mid-week, followed by an increasing onshore flow and a significant increase in combo swell into Friday the 13th. Here is a good link to accurately track real-time, near-shore surf temperatures off the NE Florida coast… the Fernandina Beach buoy is climbing up now after briefly bottoming out at 63.5F mid-week. Located upstream (to the north) much closer to the coast than the St. Augustine buoy, it’s a good indicator for dropping and rising surf temps dictated by winter cold air outbreaks followed by warming trends.
