7:35 am: Much colder early on this Monday morning. Waves are starting to come up from the N. Waves size @ 1-2 feet. Sideoffshore NNW winds at 13-23 mph early. Our marine forecast is calling for increasing N winds today . On the local buoy offshore our current wave heigh reading is 4.3 feet at 6 seconds, up from yesterdays 2.3 feet @ 8 seconds. 8:10 am: Early morning photos are up box #1 and you can see the angle from the north. Small overall, with some knee high to maybe thigh high semi-choppy waves seen angling in. Mushy and drifty looking, and much of swell is going by us offshore.. Very chilly at the beach..

Dean is calling for a cold week ahead and a sizeable (especially south) winter swell in the Surf Station Surf Forecast.

Here is a good link to track near-shore wave height/period/direction and water temperature just off the NE Florida coast: the Fernandina Beach buoy. Located upstream (to the north) and closer to the coast than the St. Augustine buoy, it’s a good indicator of fluctuations in NE Florida surf conditions influenced by winter cold fronts. Here is an overview of a large-scale, real-time wind map to track the shifting winds associated with the fronts and lows that produce our waves.
