7:20 am: Choppy surf again this morning as we start out your Tuesday. Hurricane Kirks Groundswells still with us but not as large. Wave size at 2-3 feet with still some occasional larger set waves. It’s choppy with onshore winds. The marine forecast calls for strong NE winds again today. Our local buoy the early morning wave height reading is 4.9 feet at 13 seconds, down from yesterdays 5.6 feet at 17 seconds. The water temperature is measured at 81.3 degrees offshore again this morning. You can see the ocean live by viewing The Surf Station Cam Page here.
.
8:20 am: Early morning photos are up box #1 and you can see the surf looks smaller than last nights report (compare with the photos in box #2) And we still have onshore winds so these choppy waves are bumped up. Overall looks about waist to rib high with some occasional larger set waves. Today is the last day of moderate onshore before the wind begins ramping up tomorrow (Wednesday), with possible hurricane force winds here on Thursday. See notes below pertaining to this surf report operation while the storm is passing.
.
11:30 am: New late morning photos are up box #2 and you can see it’s choppier and looks a little bigger than the dawn patrol report. The sun is out which is nice. There is an eerie mood with the brisk onshores and vibe of a coming storm at the beach….

Left up from last night about the photos in box #2:
7:30 pm: Evening note: Strong groundswells from Hurricane Kirk along St. Augustine Beach this evening. Wave size at rib to shoulder high with some overhead set waves pushing through. It’s real thick with the up to 17 second intervals indicating the waves are coming from far away. The more space in between the waves make the wave thicker and thus more water & strength when the wave hits the sandbar. The surfers are handling the waves well, even with all the wipeouts. Looks challenging and fun. See pics & report from then here.
This will do it until tomorrow morning… over and out….
Hurricane Milton note for this surf report: Upon arrival of the hurricane to Florida, in the event we lose power, and we have not a way of updating this surf report (about a 50-50 chance), the report will still go on, with a modified version moved to our instagram platform as long as the iPhone battery powered report is still able to be loaded and transmitted. So check/save bookmark our local surf report instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/surfstationsurfreport/ and our main page instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/thesurfstation/. Once the power is restored, we will be back here on our www platform, and back to normal, in time.
