6:30 am: It looks like the waves have increased from yesterday morning, with waves in the 1 to 2 foot range. The surface conditions are still only fair, with our local winds blowing out of the SSW @ 5 knots. The marine forecast calling for stronger SW winds through most of the day, increasing to 10 to 15 knots by the evening. The water temperature is measured at 75 degrees at The Pier this morning, and we’re seeing 2.3 foot readings on the St Augustine buoy. Overall, the form isn’t great, but it looks like the waves are on the increase after a stretch of very small surf, so it looks like we’re moving in the right direction. You can see the ocean live by viewing The Surf Station Cam Page here.

1:40 pm: It’s looking pretty similar in size to this morning, with a slight increase from early this week. The waves are looking to be in the 1 to 2 foot range with okay conditions. Our local winds are currently blowing out of the SE @ 9 knots and our local buoy is hanging in at 2.3 feet @ 7 seconds. Overall, it’s looking small scale and weak with a bit of surface texture, but there’s a little something out there for a longboard or a soft top if you felt like getting wet.
The waves look to have increased a bit from this morning, with waves in the 1 to 1.5 foot range. The conditions are only fair, with our local winds currently blowing out of the SE @ 12 knots. There’s a fair amount of drift pulling toward the north, with semi-choppy to choppy surface conditions. Our local buoy is currently reading 2.3 feet @ 5 seconds, down just a bit from this morning’s 3 foot readings. We just had a low tide pass at 1:10 this afternoon, so the waves may see a bit of an increase with a tide switch. Overall, it’s looking pretty mixed up but is giving us some more hope for small scale swell projected to filter in toward the end of the week.
