7:15 am: Increasing surf early on this Saturday morning. Wave size 1-2 feet and on the increase. It’s choppy with increasing onshore winds . . On our local buoy the early morning wave height reading of 5.9 feet at 6 seconds up from yesterdays 1.6 feet at 11 seconds. The marine forecast calling for early increasing onshores . The water temperature is measured at 74 degrees at The Pier this morning. And you can see the ocean live by viewing The Surf Station Cam Page here.

7:55 am: Early morning photos are up in box #1 and you can see we have overcast skies and choppy surf this morning. Some rain blew in off the ocean but that didn’t help the messy surf conditions. The good news is the insceasing onshore winds are and will increase the surf. The wind is forecast to ramp up, and so is the surf. Waves starting out around knee to thigh high but already some bigger peaks showing. It’s crossed up and junky early. It’s gonna get worse before it gets better, but eventually it will get better….

1:00 pm: The waves have come up quite a bit from this morning, with waves in the 2 to 3 foot range with some much larger sets around the pier. The conditions are only fair, with our local winds currently blowing out of the ESE @ 14 knots, adding a fair amount of chop and texture to the waves. Our local buoy is currently reading 6.2 feet @ 6 seconds, so there is plenty of swell out there on the buoy. Waves are in the waist to chest high range on sets. It’s looking a little disorganized out there, but there’s a crew around the pier and the dredge who are finding some open barrels on the inside. If you don’t mind the mess, there’s some sizeable, powerful waves out there to be had.
.
7:45 pm: New evening photos are up in box #3 and you can see we have sizable waves for your Saturday evening. Junky and ‘all over the place‘, but still some fun waves. Chest high or bigger on some sets. Very consistent making for a hard paddle out. Strong onshores and the marine forecast is for the wind to blow all night tonight…
And on that positive note.. outta here. Next update will be early in the morning. over and out.
