Mikaela started surfing competitively at an early age. She competed in her first contest at the age of 5 in the Sisters of the Sea surf contest held in Jacksonville. While she loves to free surf, it’s the competitive side of surfing she truly enjoys. Mikaela hits her local Florida breaks in Fernandina Beach every chance she can. At 11 years old, she has surfed all over the U.S. East Coast and has enjoyed several trips to Costa Rica and El Salvador. Mikaela truly loves surfing and the ocean but she does not let that stop her from being a kid. In addition to surfing, Mikaela loves snowboarding where she easily concours the slopes with both style and grace. Mikaela has also competed in gymnastics at a high level but now has a new found interest in Silk Acrobatics where it has been noted how quickly she has progressed to an advance level.

Mikaela loves animals including her dog Aliya and two cats Tiger and Azul. Mikaela dreams of being a professional surfer some day, but also really wants to be a marine biologist where she hopes to make a difference in helping to save our oceans and its animals. Mikaela has accumulated much success as a competitive surfer. She has surfed in the ESA for the past 4 years where she has placed 1st overall in her district division every year. For the year 2018, Mikaela is the Girls U12 & U14 shortboard and U14 Longboard ESA First Coast District Champion. Mikaela is the 2017 and 2018 champion for the Sisters of the Sea Keiki’s shortboard division. Though Mikaela was one of the youngest and smallest competitors at the 2018 Wave Masters competition for Girls U16 division, Mikaela surfed hard to take 1st place (She placed 3rd in the Wave Masters micro-mini division in 2017).

Other notable results include:
• 2018 Jesus Went, Costa Rica – 4th place finish in the women’s open division.
• The Folly Beach Wahini Classic where she podiums in both 2017 and 2018.
• 2017 Rick Salick NKF Surf Contest 4th place.
• Mikaela has three podium finishes at the King of the Hill surf classic between 2016 and 2018.
• Mikaela is a regular on the Gnarly Charley Surf Series where she often places 1st.
