New 2009 Lost Models!
The F-1
f1
s The F-1 (Formula 1) – Is inspired by the ultimate performance of F1 racing, featuring the perfect combination of speed and turning. Everything I have learned in 20 years of shaping influenced by working with the best shapers and surfers in the world, culminates into this… What I consider to be the perfect combination of both drive and glide, with both carving arcs and tight radius turning. It features design elements from every high performance model we have ever made (from the SD series to the Whiplash and Psycho Ward). The most notable features are a relaxed entry rocker from our groveler boards, blending into long, curvy tail rocker outline with concave deepest under the front foot. Narrow hips for precision and control combined with the rocket gives a board that works at both low and high speeds, flat or curvy waves. Simply put, it’s our take on the modern, cutting edge, high performance short board. Now also available in FST technology.
SD-LUX
sdlux
Is the latest in the SD Series. The idea for this design was to make a very friendly, yet still high performance short board that features the highest possible quality materials and components for our most discerning customers. Shape-wise, it’s a very neutral riding board that is lively, yet predictable and consistent in most any surf. It features relaxed rocket throughout (based on SD2’s curve), a shallow concave from just ahead of the front through just behind the rear foot, a slight double concave through the fins and flat everywhere else. Conservative outline and rails create a balanced volume and gives built in glide to the board. A subtle double bump squash takes a bit of area out of the tail to allow more bite and control while still maintaining lift.

The board comes standard with Mayhem’s favorite… FCS Fusion fin system and new GBM performance Core RTM fins. Built with the strongest, highest quality (3x the cost of normal cloth) “S-Glass” lamination, for high impact and crack resistance and each board (even stock) is finished, signed, and numbered by hand by Matt Biolos.
Stealth
stealth
THE STEALTH – A high performance, secret weapon hybrid. Team riders (Pros) were stoked on The Rocket’s performance in small surf, but were afraid to use it in contest for fear of negative reactions for judges. At the same time, the (bros) were asking for a “short board that surfs like the Rocket”. We started with the idea of “hiding” our Rocket model into the guise of a pointed nose performance short board. First we extended the nose and added nose rocker, but kept a lot of volume in the extension. The tail is pulled in behind the rear foot and features a more radical “fang” in the rocket tail to add range and bite for more control in tight turns. The combination of extreme tail rocker and deep concave provide lift and unparalleled turning radius. The low entry rocker with a short board nose template gives a longer rail line which allows performance short board antics. Flat deck and full rails keeps everything easy for everyone. It comes standard as a 5 fin “Convertible Quiver Killer”. Finally, there’s a board that can be “Everything for Everyone”. Ride approx 4” longer than a Rocket, or 2” shorter than a high performance short board. Now also available in FST technology.
The Rocket & Grocket
rocketg
THE ROCKET (and Grocket) – A runaway success! The most positive reaction to a new model since the original Round Nose Fish! Originally shaped as a 5’3” for Shane’s young son Noah by former …Lost shaper and pro surfer Noah Budroe. The board features a wide forward outline with round forgiving rails, flat deck and a wide “rocket” tail. The rocker is extremely low in the tail for tight arcs out of turns. This board actually has as much tail rocker as any board in our line. Coupled with a deep concave throughout, via a straightened stringer line, the board is a small to average wave all-rounder that can be effectively ridden 4” to 8” shorter, 1/8” thinner, and just slightly wider than your normal short board without sacrificing any of the carve or drive. This one has to be ridden to be believed… Now available with new, Aaron Cormican inspired, “Grocket” winged mini-swallow tail. This tail increases control for lighter snappier surfers and also lends itself well to surfers who prefer to ride the board a bit longer (2-4” shorter than their normal boards) as it shortens the rail line and turning arc. See Gorkin putting his “Grocket” through the round in his “Holiday in Cabodia” secion of 5’5” x 19 ¼ REDUX.

Whiplash
whip
The Whiplash has become our flagship. More pro surfers come to us for the Whiplash than any other model. The list of traveling pro’s with them in their quiver’s is staggering. Built for precision, tight radius, high speed, spontaneous surfing. The mind set behind this board was "anything not needed, take out". Designed with low volume rails, vee deck, elliptical outline (No hip or bump in the tail) with a narrower nose and tail block, combined with an aggressive rail rocker and deep concaves. All of these characteristic’s combine to make this the most sensitive and responsive board we offer.

Not recommended for below average surfers, but for the guy who wants to elevate his performance to the highest level. Performs best in curvy waves of any size. The Round tail has been a custom order favorite this year.

Comp 4

The ongoing resurrection and subsequent progression of the quad fin from a fun novelty to viable competition design has taken us to this...our most progressive quad design yet. Simply put, it’s our "whiplash" thruster model (featuring all the design elements described there) slightly modified as a quad. Looking for a “quad that rides like a thruster” we have come to this. Developed with extensive testing via Shane Beschen and Mike and Mason Ho. It has a wider nose and just slightly wider tail at the 12" mark for carry and glide combined with a slight adjustment to the rail rocker. This has netted us a board that has won WCT heats and been ridden to an X Games MVP award for Chris Ward this year. Available in Rounded Pin and Straight swallow tail.

Lee Stacey Designs

...Lost Surfboards is proud to present our new collaboration with Australian shaper, Lee Stacey. Lee is our Australian connection to the design trends coming from down under and we are stoked to have him on board. S3- Lees’ all-rounder. The S3 has a full forward outline for carry over flat, or gutless sections. The soft rail’s under the front foot and chest allow a nice forgiving feel, (no catch through turn’s). Designed with a smooth rocker with late tail flip, and a constant concave with the deepest point being concentrated between the feet. In combination with a slight hip, this board has the instant speed and sensitivity to suit most surfers in any conditions. I have worked on this board with WQS and WCT surfer’s for the past year and have had amazing results. This is the board that my team rider Luke Stedman choose to ride at most of the CT event’s this year. From Snapper, Bells, and J-Bay to Spain and Brazil this is the curve that has worked best for him in a variety of sizes and conditions...

SDII
SD2
ur Best Selling Model of all time! "The Every Mans Short board" It features a low entry and tail rocker into a hyper-extended rail rocker in the tail (creating a pronounced vee behind the rear fin). Designed with a flattish deck, full forgiving outline and rails, and a single to double concave bottom. The SD-II has evolved into an international favorite for the every day surfer and is one of the most popular surfboard models on the planet. It’s a perfect blend of full, forgiving, yet high performance board design for the average surfer looking for slightly wider standard dims than the Pros potato chips, without sacrificing maneuverability. Also of note, this is our most popular board on both ends of the size spectrum. The design translates well to small mini grom boards like Kalohe Andino’s contest winners. The drivey rocker and full outline forces traditional carving and power surfing into young kids. It also makes a great Big Guy Short board in the 6’6” to 7’6” range.

SDIII
sd3
The Pros choice for smaller WQS style waves in ’07. First released in ’06, it has had the best response we ever had for a new model. A sleeker version of the SD2, with the vee removed from the tail, and latest fine tuned rocker, bottom and outline curves. Built with a Vee deck to boxy, yet a thinner, more sensitive rail than the SD2. Fits in tight pockets with lots of snap for quicker, high speed turns. This board has become our all around work horse of a short board. Comes standard now as a slight bump squash, but was ridden with success and made popular as dbl wing swallow by Ward. This is our “go to” board for most first time custom orders.

SDIV
sd4
Introduced in ’07 as an extension of the SD Series. Not groveler-specific like the shark, but not an ultra sensitive pro model like the whiplash either. Basically, it’s a cross of the SD2 (flattish deck/full rails and slight vee in tail tips) and the SD3 with a bit wider tail and nose, giving a drivier outline and area to hold the four fins. This is the “Every Man’s Quad”. It lends itself to all those who like the SD series combination of high performance qualities and conservative forgiveness with built in glide. Ride just 1-2” shorter than your normal board or the same length as an SD2 thruster. For ’08, we are producing mainly as a straight quad fin setup in both dbl-wing swallow or diamond tail.

5-Fin Shark
shark
This year we simplified the Shark into one very flexible model that comes standard with a 5 fin placement choice for a 1 board quiver. Still a board designed for average surfers in junk surf and meant to be ridden 2-4” shorter and 1” wider than your typical board. It features a wide tail and a full curvy nose outline, a very shallow concave from center through the front fins to a double concave vee behind the back foot. Double wings make for quick release direction changes without sliding. This year we have introduced the dbl wing round pin tail, this extends the functionality of the board into larger, faster waves without sacrificing small wave speed and looseness. Great small wave board for average ability surfers. Guys like Ryan Carlson and Shane Beschen rip on these boards and Ward loves to take them out into Tahitian barrels. Features the original SHARK’S low entry rocker with flat deck and full steep rails for built in speed and stability. Works great in broken up surf and mushy walls. Paddles fast and makes you look good.

The Deal

Drawing heavily off of the boards we made Shane in the past, as well as from other boards he’s brought in from around the world. This board features all of Shane’s favorite performance short board design influences into one. We came up with a board that allows long, drawn out front foot driving carves, as well as tight radius snaps when needed. The outline and rocker are noticeably straighter than average, through the middle section of the board, which lends towards long driving arcs. The rails are rolled under soft to keep it from becoming sticky and the tail rocker has a healthy kick in the last foot, to allow quick snaps off the top in shorter waves. Because of the straighter outline and rocker, we used the "bump wing" ahead of the fins in the outline for release. The board can be ridden a touch narrower than normal, while still retaining nose and tail width.

Phsyco Ward
Psychoward
The CHRIS WARD PRO MODEL > >> Refined and updated this year with input from Chris. Used with success by many WQS and a few WCT surfers in ’07. It was designed to handle Chris's power surfing in weak to average waves. With a fuller outline and relaxed entry rocker, it doesn't get over powered by hard turns in less than stellar conditions. It still has the Whiplash's low volume (but boxy) rails for sensitivity. Designed with a wider nose, tail and overall dims and just a touch less rocker for quick recovery from rail burying turns. Uses less radical concaves and more relaxed rail rockers. Great for anyone who loves the performance of the Whiplash in good surf, but wants something more for the junk. Great all around board for any level of surfer that pushes hard in turns. Has a great combination of glide and carve without twitchiness. For ’08 we are offering a limited edition of signed and numbered Psycho Ward models featuring 2 designs created for Chris (shown here) by legendary San Clemente artist Roy Gonzales. All boards will be hand signed by Roy, Chris and shaper Matt Biolos and can be custom ordered in any dims.

Monk Fish
monk
The Monkfish was originally influenced by the high volume, nose to tail vee bottom MR retro models I have been riding a lot the last few years. Without being tied to recreating the old (and proven) designs of the boards from the past, we have developed what we feel is an awesome post modern redux. The nose to tail vee bottom is a great and now mostly overlooked design that allows for thicker, high volume boards to still be sensitive rail to rail and not surf “flat” on the water.

Vee bottoms also go through chop like a hot knife thru butter and glide smoothly in windblown slop. The thickness, extremely flat deck, and width give extreme paddle power and stability. The steep rails and forward wide point outline give incredible drive. The pulled in nose tip, with a deceptively healthy amount of rocker, allow for tight radius, radical surfing not usually associated with "fish" type boards. Available with or without the deep wing in the tail. Comes standard with Quad “Loc Box” Solid glass fins in our custom developed template. Can be made as a twin as well.

Gullwing
gullwing
Conceptually it’s not a fish or a shortboard... but something in between. Features a flat deck, steep rails and an outline with a wide pointed nose and centered wide point. Concave bottom through the guts of the board with a volume neutralizing spiral vee behind the fins create speed and control simultaneously. The tail is a winged swallow with the inner point hollowed out (creating the gull wing shape) to allow more water release in turns and give more control at high speeds (allowing a faster, flatter rocker that still turns easily). This board has everything you need to compete with crowds and modest surf, yet allows radical surfing and direction changes. Comes standard with five FCS fin plugs and can be ridden as a thruster, quad or even five finer. Tested thoroughly at overcrowded, mushy Trestles by overweight guys with much success and given a real working over by Wardo. Ride 2”- 4” shorter than a typical shortboard.

Round Nose Fish
rnf
This is the latest version world’s all-time best selling fish model. During the filming of 5’5” REDUX, the RNF was radically redesigned through 2007. It now features a new, narrower nose than in the last few years, a longer rail rocker (with a more pronounced concave) through the middle of the board with flipped nose, and a shorter, more pronounced vee in last 6” of the tail. The most notable addition is going back to a deep single wing set far back into the outline. The deep wing (influenced by MR's vintage twin fins) adds more control of the high speeds generated due to the deeper concaves, faster bottoms, providing better bite in snaps and carves . The narrower nose free’s things up for more radical pocket turning without sacrificing drive off the front foot. Still paddles great, still makes you look good, but the updates allow harder, more radical turns and a wider range of performance, in more varied surf. Enjoy playing with a multitude of fin setups. Designed as a twin with rear trailer, but works great as a pure twin fin, or tri all three standard thrusters for different feels in different conditions. Like a semi gun ...EVERYONE should own one.

Round Nose Fish Quad
RNFquad
During the filming of 5’5” REDUX, the RNF and RNFQ were radically redesigned in ’07. Features a new narrower nose than in the last few years, and a longer flatter rail rocker (with a more pronounced concave) through the middle of the board. Also with flipped tips in the nose and tail, to vee in the last 6” of the tail and most notably a deep single wing set far back into the outline. The deep wing (influenced by MR's vintage twin fins) adds more control to the high speeds generated due to the deeper concaves and faster bottoms. The narrower nose frees things up for more radical pocket turning without sacrificing drive off the front foot. Quads are a great opportunity to get the same free and loose feel of a twin but have added holding power and drive, allowing for harder turns and a wider range of performance in more varied surf. Enjoy playing with a multitude of fin setups and positions for different feels in different conditions. A fun and functional update to the ...Lost Classic.

Round Nose Fish LE
rnf1997
Before twin fin fish were cool (and probably after) there was the ...Lost RNF. Ridden to fame by Cory Lopez, Chris Ward and A.I. in the classic video 5'5" x 19 1/4. In celebration of the 11 year anniversary and subsequent re-release of the original film (for the first time ever on DVD) along with the long anticipated sequel 5’5” REDUX, we are remaking a limited edition run of original Round Nose Fish… exactly as it was shaped the year the film as made. We scanned in one of Cory’s classic boards he rode in the film and are offering it with original old school logos, glass on twin fins with fcs rear “shark tooth” trailer. Each board will be hand signed and numbered by Both Cory Lopez and Chris Ward, as well as shaper Matt Biolos. It’s interesting to see the changes this design has evolved through over the last 12 plus years since we first began making them, and while the newer versions may be more fine tuned and feature more progressive rocker and outlines, the original has merits that can’t be denied.

The Glider

Don't be confused, this is not your daddy’s "funboard". More of a Shortboard/Fish Hybrid than anything. It’s the result of tireless effort to design a board that covers a lot of ground paddling and catching waves in crowded overhead surf (the best days at your local spot) without sacrificing maneuverability. The limitations of fish and fish type designs is when stretching out the length for good waves they tend to become straight and clunky (rarely fitting into the wave). Longer shortboards tend to become needley and not paddle or "glide" as easily, after becoming accustomed to low rockered fishy type boards. The Glider solves this problem. Designed to be ridden from 2-12" longer than the surfer, it has a curvy, elliptical outline that keeps it free on the face of the wave. Designed with a very low and ridiculously fast entry rocker, a tail rocker that accelerates from the center and features as much tail kick as any high performance shortboard on the market. The combination makes a board that effortlessly catches waves and "glides", yet still carves full rail turns in the pocket when asked to. By default, it also makes a great intermediate surfers all-rounder; stable and grovels in junk with ease. BUY NOW

Step Ups and Mini Guns
guns
STEP UPS and MINI GUNS- Everyone should have one! Designed as a primary travel board, or for the best days at home (Unless you live in Hawaii.) This board paddles strong and holds in at high speeds, yet still turns wherever and whenever you need it. Bottoms feature a fine single concave from just forward of the front foot through most of tail, with just a hint of vee behind the back fin. This combined with a bit more overall rocker and “short board” rails have made our mini gun livelier and more performance based than a "Pure" gun. Thin rails in the back half keep it holding in the barrels and late drops. Combines speed and forgiveness and turning without too much lift in critical positions. A mini gun is 4-12" longer than your normal board and usually the same width and a bit thicker. GUNS- If you’re going to charge you want the confidence of proven designs and we can custom make boards for any size or situation. Our guns have never had more refinement that in the last couple years and we're more exited than ever in making guys the best board they ever had for those rare magic days. Our team has never been more stoked. (A gun is 12" or longer than your everyday short board).
