In the spring of 1999, the Surf Station held St. Augustine’s first all girl surf contest. The contest was a huge hit and the attendance was phenomenal!!! Tory and the girls got together and quickly realized the need for an all girls surf shop.
It just so happened that the old 800 sq ft. Subway sandwich shop right next door to the Surf Station became available and they quickly jumped on the opportunity. Not too long after, with a little renovation and a touch of some surfer chick style, “The Girl Next Door” surf shop was established. The Girl Next Door is the only ALL GIRLS surf shop in St. Augustine!
Not only is the GND an all girls surf shop, but it is also run by all girls! ALL of the girls that work at the GND are accomplished surfers and love the sport and industry. These girls have the knowledge and experience to help you with everything from picking out the hottest new styles in clothing, to sizing you up for a wetsuit and surfboard. The GND surf shop is connected directly to the Surf Station which makes us your ultimate one-stop-shop for all men and women’s surfing apparel and accessories. The GND carries clothing from Rusty Girl, …Lost, Hurley, Rip Curl, Matix and many more! We carry a full line of women’s wetsuits from Xcel, Rip Curl and the Surf Station.
